When you start to enable SSL for Joomla, be sure you already have a functioning as well as valid SSL certificate on your Joomla site. If you don’t have an SSL certificate yet, you can choose to use Encrypt certificates that are ready for almost accounts, or just seeing these SSL certificate options here.
Enable SSL for Joomla
In order to enable SSL for Joomla, please follow step by step below:
Step 1: Access your website Administrator
- You are using Joomla 2.5 > Site > Global Configuration
- You are using Joomla 3 > System > Global Configuration
Step 2: Click the Server tab
Step 3: Find Server settings > choose Force SSL list box > pick one of the below options:
- Using SSL and select Administrator Only to make administration interface accessible only. With the enhanced security, we strongly recommend you to require SSL for the administrator interface at least.
- Using SSL > Entire Site to make the entire website accessible.
Step 4: Click Save. Now SSL for Joomla is enabled.
